Short course on the purification of the heart from the treatise ‘Usul al-’Ashara’ by Imaam Najmuddin Kubra. Founder of the Kubrawiyah order and an expert scholar, Imaam Najmuddin was considered a pillar of his age.

These are the ten principles by Nejmmuddin Kubra that if followed will bring you close to Allah. If you adhere to these principles you will cleanse your ego (Nefs) of impurities, and you will fall in love with Allah.

Najmuddīn-e Kubrā (Persian: نجم‌الدین کبری‎) or Najm al-Din Kubra, (Shaykh Abū al-Jannāb Ahmad ibn ‘Umar) was a 13th-century Persian Sufi from Khwarezmia, the founder of the Kubrawiyya or Kubraviyah Sufi order, influential in the Ilkhanid and Timurid.]

Born in 540/1145, Najm al-din Kubra began his career as a scholar of hadith and kalam, after which he began to focus on the inner sciences of the heart. Kubra died (617/1220) during the Mongol conquests after refusing to leave his city, where he fought in hand-to-hand combat against the Mongols.

Among his students was Baha’uddin Walad, father of Jalaluddin Rumi.

This series of lectures are for those who wish to understand what the concept of the Evil Eye is in Islam, and how it affects our lives and the world around us.

The course begins with the understanding of Black Magic according to the Quran and Sunnah. Following on from that, the symptoms, the protection and the remedies are discussed in detail.

And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it. Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful.” (Qur’an 5:6).
